IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

The application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in. Prospective students must submit their applications by 4 PM on the closing date.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Eligibility and Testing

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Proof of English proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is mandatory.

Selection Process

Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
