IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are managed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This requires a self-declaration and names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Application Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Proof of English proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC is mandatory.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
