IIT Delhi has opened applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Eligible candidates include non-Indian nationals. This also covers individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must apply through the official website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess the candidate’s aptitude. They will also comment on field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Submission of scores from specific tests may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores are also relevant. The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) is another possibility.
International examination scores can also fulfill admission requirements. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proficiency in English language tests is also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members. The committee will represent the relevant academic discipline.
