IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for Foreign Nationals Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from foreign nationals for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

To be considered for admission to PhD and PG programs, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will grant admissions based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive invitations for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
