The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs. Foreign nationals can apply until March 30, 2026 .
Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. The deadline is 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on candidate aptitude. They will assess proficiency in the chosen field. Research potential and independent thinking are also evaluated. English language skills are also part of the assessment.
Admission Requirements
Standardized test scores may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Scores from CSIR or UGC NET are also considered. DST INSPIRE fellowship recipients are also eligible.
International examination scores are accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE). Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores are also valid.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
The interview committee assesses candidates. They evaluate overall aptitude. Proficiency in the chosen field is key. Potential for research and independent thinking are also considered.
