The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for admission for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
The notification states referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Admission Requirements
For PhD and PG programs, applicants may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
