IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Foreign nationals, including those with OCI or PIO cards, are eligible.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in . The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International students may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant department.
