IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions 2026 for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for PhD and PG Programs

International students can now apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are managed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency through a self-declaration. They will also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referee Recommendations

Referees will be asked to assess candidates’ aptitude. They will also comment on proficiency in the chosen field and research potential. English language skills, both written and oral, will be evaluated by the referees.

Required Entrance Exam Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted scores are from CSIR, UGC NET, and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also accepted. Candidates can submit results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE). The Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) is another accepted qualification.

English Proficiency Tests

Candidates must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL and IELTS. TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination are also valid. Any other equivalent language test may be considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant department.
