The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Admission Details for International Students
This application window is for admissions to the academic year 2026-2027. Both PhD and PG courses are open for foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement confirming their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to submit recommendation letters. The notification states referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.
Specific academic scores may be required. For PhD and PG programs, IIT Delhi may consider scores from examinations such as:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
In addition, proof of English language proficiency is necessary. This can be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
