IIT Delhi Launches Healthcare Entrepreneurship Program

NEW DELHI – The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has launched a new five-month online executive program focused on healthcare entrepreneurship and management. This initiative aims to equip professionals with essential skills to develop and scale innovation-led solutions within the healthcare sector. Experts from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi will provide crucial clinical insights throughout the curriculum.

Program Structure and Goals

The executive program operates through IIT Delhi’s Continuing Education Programme (CEP). The CEP is a statutory body responsible for conducting certificate programs and issuing official certificates. This specific course targets working professionals, industry innovators, and young graduates. It prepares them for careers in critical fields such as medical technology, digital health, biomedical engineering, and healthcare entrepreneurship.

The program delivery utilizes weekend live online sessions. This structure allows working professionals to participate without disrupting their current employment. Guided project work complements the live sessions. Participants will engage with a diverse peer group, drawing expertise from healthcare, engineering, biotechnology, and research backgrounds. This collaborative environment aims to strengthen innovation capabilities and entrepreneurial confidence through practical, hands-on experience.

Application Details and Fees

Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree. While not mandatory, prior work experience or project-based exposure is considered desirable for admission. The total program fee is Rs 1,30,000 , exclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST). An additional application fee of Rs 1,000 applies to all candidates.

Comprehensive Curriculum

The program is academically anchored by IIT Delhi’s Centre for Biomedical Engineering. Its curriculum covers a broad spectrum of topics essential for healthcare innovation. Initial modules focus on identifying healthcare gaps. This process uses empathy-driven approaches and data analysis. Participants then learn to apply design thinking methodologies for problem-solving. Practical skills include prototyping using advanced digital tools and 3D printing technologies, followed by usability testing.

Further, the course addresses critical regulatory and business aspects. Students gain understanding of regulatory requirements specific to healthcare products and services. They learn about intellectual property (IP) frameworks and quality standards. The curriculum also integrates modules on market strategies: branding, pricing, sales strategy, and distribution pathways. Other business components include developing robust business models, strategies for securing funding, and methods for effectively scaling new healthcare ventures.

Expert Faculty and Project-Driven Learning

The program adopts a strong project-driven approach. Participants tackle real-world healthcare challenges. They work towards developing deployable prototypes. This process involves structured mentoring, peer learning, and expert feedback from faculty and industry specialists. This ensures practical relevance and skill development.

Faculty leadership includes Arnab Chanda and Biswarup Mukherjee, both from the Centre for Biomedical Engineering. Their expertise combines engineering, clinical, and entrepreneurial perspectives. Clinical insights are further enriched by direct contributions from experts at AIIMS Delhi, bridging academic knowledge with practical medical application.

Certification and Networking Opportunities

Upon successful completion of the five-month program, learners will receive an e-certificate. This official document is issued by IIT Delhi’s Continuing Education Programme (CEP). The program facilitates significant networking opportunities. Participants can interact directly with IIT Delhi faculty, AIIMS medical experts, and various industry specialists. These interactions offer valuable insights and connections within the healthcare innovation ecosystem.
