IIM Shillong PGPWE 7th Batch: Executive MBA for Professionals

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong has announced the launch of the 7th batch for its Post Graduate Program for Working Executives (PGPWE). This Executive MBA program is specifically designed to allow professionals to gain advanced management qualifications without interrupting their careers. The initial interview phase for prospective candidates is scheduled for January 24-25 , with the new academic session beginning on May 26, 2026 .

The PGPWE program is tailored for individuals who wish to pursue higher education while maintaining their current employment. It follows a blended learning model, combining live online weekend classes with mandatory on-campus sessions. This structure supports the flexible learning principles outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It allows students to learn remotely from their homes for most of the program, while still engaging in crucial in-person interactions and experiences at the IIM Shillong campus.

Naliniprava Tripathy, Director I/C of IIM Shillong, stated that the Executive MBA helps working professionals balance higher education with their personal and professional duties. She added that the curriculum is current, preparing students with leadership skills for evolving business environments. Sitanshu Sekhar Das, Chairperson of the Executive PGP, highlighted the program’s comprehensive structure. He noted it includes online learning, campus engagement, and international exposure. Das added that real-world case studies and workshops equip participants with practical skills to address contemporary business challenges.

Program Curriculum and Fees

The PGPWE curriculum is comprehensive, offering over 60 electives across various management disciplines. These include finance, marketing, operations, human resources, information systems, strategy, and liberal studies. This wide selection allows students to customize their academic path to align with specific career objectives. The core curriculum focuses on developing critical skills such as leadership, strategic thinking, and real-world decision-making. These skills prepare professionals to manage complex organizational challenges and contribute effectively to their workplaces.

The total program fee for the two-year Executive MBA is Rs 12,70,000 .

Eligibility Criteria

Requirement Details
Education Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized university in any discipline.
Minimum Marks A minimum of 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA is required. A relaxation applies for SC, ST, and differently abled candidates, who need 45% aggregate marks.
Work Experience Applicants must possess at least 3 years of full-time work experience after completing their graduation. This experience must be acquired as of April 30, 2026 .

Application and Selection Process

To apply for the PGPWE program, candidates must pay an application fee of Rs 3,000 . The admission process includes two main stages: a written examination and a personal interview.

  • Candidates are generally required to appear for the Working Executive Management Aptitude Test (WEMAT). This test assesses core aptitudes including verbal ability, data interpretation, and logical reasoning.
  • However, certain exemptions from the WEMAT are available.
  • Applicants who have secured a minimum of 50 percentile in the Common Admission Test (CAT) from either 2023 or 2024 are exempt from taking the WEMAT.
  • Similarly, candidates with a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score of at least 500 are also exempt. GMAT scores are considered valid if obtained within the last five years from the application date.
  • Following the written assessment (WEMAT or exemption), all eligible candidates proceed to a personal interview round.

The first phase of the interviews and examinations is scheduled to be held from January 24 to 25 . The 7th batch of the PGPWE program will commence its academic journey on May 26, 2026 .
