HSC English Exam: 23 Booked for Mass Copying in Sambhajinagar

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar police registered a case against 23 individuals following allegations of mass copying during the Maharashtra HSC (Class 12) English examination. The incident occurred on Tuesday at Rashtriya Higher Secondary School in Jaitapur, Kannad taluka.

Mass Copying Detected

Authorities confirmed the use of mass copying methods. Examinees were observed copying answers from each other’s papers. CCTV footage corroborated these findings, according to a Devgaon Rangari police station official.

Investigation and Action

A vigilance committee reviewed the CCTV evidence. This led to the registration of an offense against 23 people. Those booked include Zilla Parishad teachers serving as invigilators. Other team members are also implicated.

Official Response

An education department official confirmed the process to suspend involved Zilla Parishad employees is underway. School staff found complicit will also face disciplinary action. The entire staff at the Jaitapur exam center has been replaced.

Legal Ramifications

The offense was registered under the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board and Other Specified Examinations Act, 1982 . Police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
