Himachal Pradesh Revamps Education: CBSE, New Teachers

Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh – Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced major education policy reforms on Sunday. The state government will appoint special instructors for English and Mathematics in government schools, transitioning these institutions to the CBSE curriculum. Recruitment for these instructor positions will begin shortly.

Education Reforms Introduced

CM Sukhu confirmed that Amlehar School in Hamirpur has already received CBSE status. The government’s plan includes bringing more government schools under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) framework.

Work on the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School is progressing, with classes slated to commence next year. Four selected schools across the state, including Amlehar, will introduce multiple subject options. This initiative aims to allow students to choose subjects based on their interests.

Economic Initiatives and Support

Chief Minister Sukhu urged farmers to adopt natural farming practices. He highlighted the state government’s commitment to purchasing naturally grown crops at higher prices. For instance, the government is buying naturally farmed turmeric at Rs 90 per kilogram .

Farmers cultivating turmeric on five kanals of land can earn up to Rs 3 lakh . The state government also provides subsidies for setting up solar plants on barren land. Young individuals can achieve an annual net profit of up to Rs 3 lakh by installing a solar plant on four kanals of land.

Infrastructure Development

The state government is spending approximately Rs 100 crore on various drinking water schemes within the Nadaun assembly constituency. Water purification processes now use advanced UV technology and ozonation, replacing older methods like bleaching powder, to supply drinking water.

During his visit, CM Sukhu inaugurated several projects in his ancestral Nadaun constituency. He unveiled the Gugga Dham and park in Bhawran village, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 60 lakh . He also inaugurated the Shri Vaikunth Dham and park in Pakhrol village, an investment of around Rs 25 lakh .

Additionally, Sukhu inaugurated a statue and memorial dedicated to freedom fighter Inderpal at Inderpal Chowk in Nadaun town. The local municipal council recently completed renovation and beautification work for this memorial.
