Himachal AYUSH Launches Panchkarma Courses, Adds 252 Seats

SHIMLA – Himachal Pradesh’s AYUSH department will introduce one-year Panchkarma technician courses in 12 ayurvedic hospitals. This expansion will begin from the upcoming academic session. The initiative increases training opportunities for traditional healing systems in the state, adding 252 new student seats.

Panchkarma is an Ayurvedic treatment. It focuses on cleansing the body of toxic materials. Currently, Himachal Pradesh offers 36 seats for this course. The new expansion increases the total intake capacity to 252 students across 14 institutions.

Expanded Training Capacity

Two existing Ayurvedic colleges have seen their Panchkarma technician course seats increased. Rajiv Gandhi Government Post Graduate Ayurvedic College and Hospital in Paprola (Kangra) now offers 36 seats, up from 18. The Regional Ayurvedic Hospital, Chhota Shimla, increased its seats from 18 to 24.

In addition, 12 new institutions will offer the course. Each of these hospitals will have an intake capacity of 16 students per session. This move aims to develop a skilled workforce within the state.

Government officials stated the expansion addresses the rising demand for holistic healthcare. It also strengthens Himachal Pradesh’s position as a hub for wellness and medical tourism, similar to Kerala.
