Google DeepMind Partners India for AI Research & Education

Google DeepMind is partnering with India’s Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). This collaboration aims to advance artificial intelligence (AI) research and education across India. Google Research and Google.org are also involved in the initiative.

AI for Scientific Discovery

The partnership will give Indian researchers and scientists access to advanced AI tools. These tools include AlphaGenome for DNA mutation analysis and Earth AI for environmental monitoring. AI Co-scientist will act as a virtual research collaborator.

Funding and Support

Google.org is launching a $30 million Impact Challenge: AI for Science . This fund will support researchers, nonprofits, and social enterprises. Participants will receive engineering support and infrastructure through an accelerator program. The goal is to turn research concepts into practical applications.

AI in Indian Classrooms

Google DeepMind will expand AI use in schools. They will work with Atal Tinkering Labs , reaching over 10,000 schools and 11 million students. This will integrate robotics, coding, and Gemini AI assistants into learning. Teachers will also receive AI-powered support for their workflows.

Interactive Textbooks

In partnership with PM Publishers Pvt. Ltd., over two million textbooks will become interactive learning materials. These will use QR codes to access AI assistants. Each textbook will feature a digital assistant for explanations and summaries. This initiative will impact students in 2,000 schools.

AI Literacy Program

Google DeepMind’s Experience AI program has reached approximately 300,000 students and 8,000 teachers in India. The program aims to build AI literacy among young learners and educators.

Teacher Assistance

AI tools will offer real-time instructional assistance to teachers. This includes suggestions for experiments and guidance for project-based learning. Teachers can use these tools to troubleshoot and enhance classroom activities.

Local Language AI Development

The company will support local language AI development. This effort will focus on the Indic Language Technologies Research Hub at IIT Bombay. The aim is to make AI tools more accessible across India’s diverse linguistic landscape. This will improve AI usability in various educational settings.
