The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced the schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026. The entrance examination will take place from February 7 to February 15, 2026 . Results for GATE 2026 are scheduled for release on March 19 .
GATE 2026 Exam Format and Timings
GATE 2026 is a computer-based test. It will be conducted across multiple days in two daily shifts. Each examination session will last three hours.

Purpose of GATE Scores
GATE 2026 scores serve as a criterion for admission to Master’s programs across various disciplines. These include engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, and humanities.
The examination scores are also used for entry into PhD programs. Doctoral admissions cover engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, and humanities. Institutions and other government agencies consider GATE scores for these programs.
