FMGE December 2025 Registration Open; Exam January 17, 2026

Registration for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2025 session is now open. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the exam for January 17, 2026 . Foreign medical graduates must pass this screening test to practice medicine in India. The application portal is available on the official website, natboard.edu.in.

Graduates with an MBBS degree from a foreign medical institution are required to qualify the FMGE. This screening test is mandatory for provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council.

FMGE Eligibility and Fees

Candidates must have qualified their final MBBS exam or equivalent degree by October 31, 2025 . Failure to provide proof of passing by this deadline will result in candidature cancellation. The examination fee is Rs 5,250 , plus 18% GST, totaling Rs 6,195 .

Foreign medical degrees require specific attestation. Certificates must be attested by the Embassy of India or Apostilled by the appropriate authority of the foreign country concerned. Unattested certificates or those attested after January 2, 2026 , will not be considered for eligibility for the FMGE December 2025 session, according to NBEMS.

Exam Structure and Pass Rate

The FMGE is conducted twice annually, in June and December. The examination is a computer-based test. To help candidates prepare, NBEMS will host a demo test link on its official website starting December 27, 2025 .

In the June 2025 session, 6,707 out of 36,034 candidates qualified for the exam. This reflects a pass rate of approximately 18.6% for that session.
