Officials at GSVM Medical College confirmed the removal of Dr. Shaheen Saeed’s name. A senior official stated the decision was made after her name surfaced during the Delhi blast investigation. The college acted on inputs received from the Delhi Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
An official, who requested anonymity, described the step as a “precautionary measure.” This was done to prevent any potential misidentification or reputational damage to the institution. The college aims to safeguard its image while the wider probe continues.
Dr. Shaheen’s Tenure at GSVM
Dr. Shaheen Saeed previously headed the pharmacology department at GSVM. Her tenure ran from September 1, 2012 , to December 31, 2013 . Dr. Pooja Agarwal succeeded her, taking over the department on January 1, 2014 .
Investigation at College Campus
Teams from both the ATS and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the GSVM campus. These visits occurred on both Friday and Saturday recently. Investigators inspected the pharmacology department. They sought detailed information about Dr. Shaheen. They also inquired about individuals who may have been in contact with her.
During their visits, the investigating teams reviewed selected departmental documents. The college asserted that the board revision is an internal, preventive measure. It aims to protect the institution’s standing during the ongoing investigation.
Delhi Red Fort Blast Details
The investigation centers on a high-intensity explosion that occurred recently near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi. The blast ripped through a slow-moving car on a Monday evening. The incident resulted in 13 fatalities. Several other individuals sustained injuries.
Delhi Police initially investigated the blast. The NIA has since taken over the probe. The incident is now being investigated as a terror attack, indicating its severe nature and implications.
