Delhi private schools released the second nursery admission merit list on Monday for the 2026-27 academic year. Applicants can check these lists and waiting lists on individual school websites. Parents of shortlisted children must complete admission formalities between February 10 and February 16 .
Second Merit List Released
Approximately 1,741 private schools uploaded their second lists. Many students remain on waiting lists, indicating the final admission round will be critical. The third and final confirmation list is scheduled for March 5 .
Several schools reported substantial shortlists. Sovereign School in Rohini selected 409 students. Gita Ratan School, also in Rohini, listed 136 candidates. St George’s School in Alaknanda confirmed 155 students. Loreto Convent School in Delhi Cantonment shortlisted 11 students.
Delhi Public School, East of Kailash, selected 14 students and placed 132 on its waiting list. Apeejay School in Saket confirmed 150 students and placed 176 on standby, according to official sources.
Admission Criteria and Age Requirements
The Directorate of Education (DoE) revised the admission structure. The foundational stage now includes nursery and kindergarten (KG), followed by Class 1. For the 2026-27 session, children must be at least three years old for nursery, four for KG, and five for Class 1 as of March 31, 2026.
Schools can offer up to one month of age relaxation at the head’s discretion. Admissions are based on criteria including neighborhood proximity, sibling preference, and alumni status. Applicant details were uploaded on January 9. Points awarded were published by January 16.
Process Timeline and Oversight
The entire admission process concludes on March 19 . A district-level monitoring cell is in place to ensure compliance and handle grievances. Any draws of lots must be conducted in the presence of parents and be video recorded for transparency.
Schools are permitted to charge only a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 25. They are prohibited from collecting capitation fees or mandating prospectus purchases.
