Chhattisgarh: Teen Suicide, Principal Arrested for Molestation

A 15-year-old girl died by suicide Sunday evening in a private school’s study room in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh. The Class 9 student left a suicide note accusing the school principal of molestation and sexual harassment. Police arrested the principal, Kuldipan Topno , on Monday .

Incident Details Emerge

The girl allegedly used a saree to hang herself from a ceiling rod. The school is located in a village under the Bagicha police station limits in Jashpur district. The deceased resided in the Sitapur area of neighboring Surguja district.

Jashpur Senior Superintendent of Police Shashimohan Singh confirmed the arrest Monday. A suicide note found at the scene accused Principal Kuldipan Topno of molestation and sexual harassment. This evidence led to his arrest.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have registered a case. A joint investigation team, comprising officials from the education, tribal, and police departments, initiated an inquiry. This team is gathering all relevant information.

Bagicha Sub-Divisional Magistrate Pradeep Rathiya ordered a magisterial inquiry. The exact reasons for the girl’s death will be determined after the investigation concludes.

Unauthorized Hostel Operations Revealed

Preliminary findings from the inquiry revealed the school campus housed an unauthorized hostel. Tribal Department’s Assistant Commissioner Sanjay Singh reported the hostel operated without mandatory permissions. Authorities seized all relevant documents.
