NEW DELHI – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched free psycho-social counselling services for Class 10 and 12 students. These services, which began recently, aim to reduce examination-related stress and support emotional well-being ahead of the Board Exams 2026. The program will run until June 1, 2026 , offering daily support to students and parents.
Tele-Counselling Services Detailed
Students and parents can access tele-communication services from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM . These services operate every day except Saturdays and Sundays. A panel of 73 trained professionals manages the helpline. This panel includes principals, counsellors, special educators from CBSE-affiliated schools, and qualified psychologists.
The counselling initiative directly addresses the mental clarity and confidence required for upcoming examinations. The CBSE stated, “This initiative is aimed at addressing examination-related stress and emotional well-being, enabling students to approach their forthcoming Theory Exams, scheduled to begin from February 17, 2026 , with confidence, balance, and mental clarity.”
24×7 Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS)
In addition to direct counselling, students have access to a 24×7 support system through an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). This system is available by dialing 1800-118-004 . The IVRS offers support in both Hindi and English.
The IVRS provides practical guidance on several key areas. These include stress-free preparation techniques and effective time and stress management strategies. It also answers frequently asked questions and delivers important CBSE-related content information. This ensures continuous access to vital resources for students preparing for their board exams.
Global Reach of Support
The panel of 73 counsellors extends beyond India’s borders. Sixty-three counsellors are based within India. The remaining 12 professionals operate from various international locations. These countries include Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates. This global network ensures wider accessibility and support for CBSE students abroad.
Online Resources for Well-being
The CBSE has also provided a curated collection of resources online. These materials are available on the official CBSE website, www.cbse.gov.in . The resources cover essential topics such as stress management, effective study strategies, and emotional well-being.
The board designed these online resources to be engaging, concise, and easily accessible. They complement the tele-counselling and IVRS services. Students can utilize these materials at their own pace to support their mental health and academic preparation.
Board Urges Utilization of Services
The CBSE encourages all students and their parents to use these comprehensive support services. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to support students’ psycho-social well-being. By providing multiple avenues for assistance, the board aims to foster a less stressful environment for students facing the significant challenge of board examinations.
