The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold Class 12 practical exams for private students from February 23 to March 17, 2026 . Marks for these exams will be uploaded on the same day they are completed.
Practical Exam Guidelines
For subjects without practical components, no project work or internal assessment will occur. Marks in these cases will be calculated proportionally based on the student’s theory paper performance.
Schools must ensure internal examiners are available. If subject teachers are unavailable at an examination center, schools are instructed to appoint qualified teachers from nearby CBSE-affiliated institutions.
CBSE has directed that Practical Answer Books provided by Regional Offices must be used. Examiners must carefully and correctly complete all entries in these books.
Exam Centers and Examiners
Class 12 practical exams will take place at the same centers designated for the theory examinations, according to an official CBSE notification.
Regional Directors will appoint external examiners for all Class 12 students. Internal examiners will be selected by the center superintendent from their school’s teaching staff.
Eligibility for Practical Exams
Students who took Class 12 practical exams in 2025 and 2024 but whose marks are missing due to reasons like repetition, absence, or other valid causes can reappear for the 2026-27 academic session.
Students from 2023 and earlier who applied as private candidates for their practical subjects will also be permitted to take the exams.
