CBSE Class 10 Social Science Exam March 7: Guidelines

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the Class 10 Social Science board examination on March 7, 2026 . The exam is scheduled from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

Passing Requirements

To pass the CBSE Class 10 board exams, students must achieve at least 33% marks . This percentage applies to each subject, including theory, practicals, and internal assessments. A minimum Grade D is required. For subjects with practical components, students must pass both the theory and practical sections separately.

The board may award grace marks to students falling short of the passing score by a single mark. Grace marks are not provided if the shortfall exceeds one mark, according to CBSE regulations.

Exam Content

The CBSE Class 10 Social Science syllabus covers four main disciplines. These include History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics.

New Exam Format

Starting this year, CBSE will conduct Class 10 board exams twice a year. This new format allows students to appear for board exams in two phases each academic year. The aim is to provide an additional opportunity for students to improve their scores. This initiative is part of reforms aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and is designed to reduce exam stress and increase flexibility.

Exam Day Guidelines

Students must arrive at the examination center 30 to 45 minutes before the reporting time. Entry to the exam hall will be denied after the reporting time.

Candidates must bring their CBSE-issued admit card . Entry without a valid admit card is prohibited.

The question paper and answer booklet will be distributed 15 minutes before the exam commences. Students should use this time to read the questions carefully and fill in necessary details on the answer sheet.
