CAT 2025: Answer Key, Score Calculation & Percentile Guide

IIM Kozhikode is expected to release the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025 answer key and response sheet in the first week of December . IIM Kozhikode conducted the CAT 2025 exam for 2.58 lakh MBA candidates.

The examination took place across 339 centers in 170 cities. CAT 2025 recorded an 86% attendance rate. In comparison, last year’s exam had 2.93 lakh candidates appear, with an 89% attendance. Candidates completed the 120-minute exam in three separate shifts.

Upon release, candidates can challenge the provisional answer key by raising objections via the official website, iimcat.ac.in. Valid objections will qualify for a refund of the objection fee. IIM Kozhikode will use the final answer key to prepare the official CAT 2025 results.

Calculating CAT 2025 Raw Scores

Candidates can estimate their CAT 2025 raw scores using the official answer key and their personal response sheet. Both documents will be available for download on the official website simultaneously.

  • Step 1: Download Documents. Obtain the CAT 2025 response sheet and the official answer key from iimcat.ac.in.
  • Step 2: Review Answers. Compare your marked responses on the response sheet against the correct answers provided in the answer key.
  • Step 3: Apply Marking Scheme. Calculate marks for each question according to the CAT 2025 marking scheme.

CAT 2025 Marking Scheme

Type of Question Marks for Correct Answer Marks for Incorrect Answer
MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) +3 -1
Non-MCQs (Non-Multiple Choice Questions) +3 0

The raw score for MCQs is calculated using the following formula:

CAT Raw Score (for MCQs) = (3 x Number of Correct Answers) – (1 x Number of Wrong Answers)

For Non-MCQs, incorrect answers do not incur a penalty. Sum the scores from all sections to obtain the estimated total CAT 2025 raw score.

Predicting CAT 2025 Percentile

Percentile indicates a candidate’s performance relative to all other test takers. This process involves normalizing scores across different exam sessions to ensure fairness.

  • Step 1: Determine Total Candidates (N). Identify the total number of unique candidates who appeared for the exam across all shifts.
  • Step 2: Assign Rank (r) based on Scaled Score. Post-normalization, each section and the overall performance receive a scaled score. A rank (r) is then assigned based on this scaled score. Candidates achieving the same score receive the same rank.
  • Step 3: Calculate Percentile (P). Use the formula below to predict the estimated percentile for a candidate:

P = ((N – r) / N) x 100

Where:

  • P = Percentile of a candidate
  • N = Total number of candidates who appeared for CAT 2025
  • r = Rank assigned to a candidate based on their scaled score

These calculations allow candidates to gauge their performance and potential before the official CAT 2025 results are published.
