BITS Pilani has launched a new $1 million scholarship fund for female students. The fund, named the Smt. Kaushaliya Devi Samdani Scholarship Endowment , will provide financial aid starting from the academic year 2026–27 .
Alumni Mahesh Samdani and his wife, Purva Ladha, provided the $1 million infusion for the scholarship. The endowment honors Samdani’s mother, Smt. Kaushaliya Devi Samdani.
Scholarship Details and Eligibility
The scholarships will be awarded annually to female students at BITS Pilani. Eligibility criteria include both merit and demonstrated financial need. The institute will administer the scholarships through its established transparent framework.
Donor Background
Mahesh Samdani graduated from BITS Pilani in 1986. He currently serves as a Managing Director at JP Morgan Chase in New York. Samdani maintains active involvement with BITS Pilani, contributing to student placements, the practice school program, and academic engagement initiatives.

Ramgopal Rao, Vice-Chancellor of BITS Pilani, stated the endowment reflects strong alumni ties. He also noted it offers students access to education.
Mahesh Samdani stated his belief that educating one girl benefits entire families and communities. He expressed confidence the scholarships would remove financial obstacles for talented female students.
