Bihar to Hire 45,000 Teachers in TRE-4, 7,000 Special Educators

Bihar plans to hire 45,000 new teachers through the fourth Teachers Recruitment Exam (TRE-4). The state government announced this recruitment drive in the assembly on Thursday. An additional 7,000 specialized educators will be hired for schools serving students with disabilities.

TRE-4 Recruitment Details

Education Minister Sunil Kumar confirmed the TRE-4 announcement. This recruitment follows previous phases that appointed over 1.70 lakh teachers in TRE-1 and TRE-2. TRE-3 successfully filled 66,603 positions. The government will soon begin the process for the new 45,000 teacher openings.

Since 2023, Bihar has recruited 258,000 teachers through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). These positions cover primary, middle, secondary, and senior secondary levels. The minister also stated that 368,000 non-commissioned teachers, appointed by local bodies, have been regularized.

Special Education and Infrastructure Upgrades

The recruitment of 7,000 specialized teachers is a key part of the plan. These educators will support students with special needs in state-run schools. The government is also focusing on improving school infrastructure and facilities across the state.

Plans include opening model schools in every block. The state will allocate ₹800 crore for new model school construction. An additional ₹200 crore is earmarked for developing existing educational institutions into centers of excellence.

Budget and Opposition Response

The announcements were made during the assembly’s debate on the education department’s budget. The proposed budget for 2026-27 is ₹60,204.60 crore. The budget passed by voice vote. Opposition members walked out, citing dissatisfaction with the government’s responses on education matters.

RJD MLA Chandrashekhar, a former education minister, criticized the current government. He alleged failures in improving education quality and school infrastructure. He also raised concerns about the utilization of funds and alleged corruption within the education department.
