Five students were expelled and one impersonator detained during the Bihar Board Class 10 science exam on February 21. The incidents occurred across multiple exam centers in the state.
Exam Day Incidents
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) reported the expulsions and detention on the fifth day of the Class 10 matriculation exams. Kaimur district authorities apprehended an individual posing as a student. This marks the latest in a series of disciplinary actions taken during the ongoing board examinations.
Expulsion Details
The five expelled students were caught using unfair means to cheat. These incidents were distributed across three districts. Two students were expelled from Saran, two from Begusarai, and one from Nalanda.
Exam Administration
The Class 10 science paper was administered on February 21 at 1,699 centers statewide. The exam was conducted in two shifts. The first shift ran from 9:30 am to 12:15 pm, and the second from 2 pm to 4:45 pm. The BSEB stated the exams proceeded smoothly statewide, with no malpractice reported in Patna district.
Student Participation
A total of 15,12,687 students registered for the Bihar Class 10 board exams. Of these, 7,85,726 are girls and 7,26,961 are boys. The board also conducted the Music exam for visually impaired students in place of the science paper during the first shift on the same day.
Previous Exam Data
Incidents of unfair practices have also been noted in other recent BSEB exams. During the Class 10 mathematics exam, six students were expelled and three impersonators were caught. For the Class 12 board exams, 26 students were expelled and one impersonator was caught on the first day. Further, 71 students were expelled and 14 impersonators apprehended across science, language, and commerce papers on February 13.
Upcoming Exams
The BSEB Class 10 English paper is scheduled for February 23. This exam will also be held in two shifts, following the established timetable.
