Bareilly Schools Shut Dec 18-20 Due to Dense Fog, Cold Wave

Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh – All schools in Bareilly for students up to Class 8 will remain closed from December 18 to 20 . The Bareilly district administration issued this three-day closure. It cited severe cold and persistent dense fog, impacting all government, aided, and private schools.

School Closure Directives

The closure aims to protect young students from harsh winter conditions and health risks. District Magistrate Avinash Singh directed this decision, according to the Basic Shiksha Adhikari. The administration prioritizes student welfare during hazardous weather.

Schools with pre-scheduled examinations are exempt and may conduct them as planned. The Basic Shiksha Adhikari warned of strict action against any institution violating the directive. This reinforces the administration’s commitment to safety.

Bareilly Faces Extreme Cold and Fog

Bareilly and its surroundings are enveloped in dense fog. The Meteorological Department issued an orange alert, forecasting dense fog for the next three days. Cold winds from the hills will intensify chilling conditions.

Poor visibility has significantly impacted daily life, especially in mornings. Traffic movement has slowed, increasing accident risk. Tuesday marked the coldest day in Bareilly in ten years, with a maximum temperature of just 16.3 degrees Celsius .

This combination of fog and severe cold poses health risks, including respiratory issues. Vulnerable populations like children and the elderly are particularly susceptible. Lack of direct sunlight contributes to persistent low temperatures.

Public Safety Advisory Issued

The district administration released a public health and safety advisory. Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Santosh Kumar Singh advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel. Special care for children and the elderly is emphasized due to their susceptibility to cold-related health issues.

Authorities expect severe cold conditions to persist without immediate relief. Residents must take precautions: staying indoors, wearing warm clothing, and monitoring health. This mitigates risks from prolonged exposure to low temperatures and poor visibility.
