Assam NMMS 2025: Registration Open, Exam Dec 13 | 2,411 Scholarships

Registration for the Assam National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS) 2025 closes on November 20 . The screening test is scheduled for December 13 , providing an annual scholarship of Rs 12,000 to eligible Class 8 students for the academic session 2025-26.

The Ministry of Education will award a total of 2,411 scholarships under the NMMS 2025 scheme. The examination will take place across 160 exam centres throughout Assam.

Eligibility and Ineligibility

Students currently studying in government and provincialized schools are eligible to apply. Their family income must be Rs 3.5 lakh or less per year. Only students from these types of schools can receive the scholarship grant.

Private school students, including those from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), can appear for the examination. However, these students are not eligible to receive the scholarship grant.

Application Process

Application forms are available on the official website,bidyarthi.co.in. Applicants must first complete a One-Time Registration (OTR) on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is mandatory to provide the correct UDISE code of the student’s current government or provincialized school during the application.

Examination Fees

A registration fee applies based on the student’s category. Differently-abled students receive the lowest fee.

Fee Exemptions

The examination and training branch, directorate of secondary education, Assam, grants specific fee exemptions. The top three students in each school are exempt from paying the examination fee. Additionally, five students from institutions located in the Sixth Schedule and Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) are also exempt. Students who have already paid the examination fees are not eligible for these exemptions.

School Enrollment Requirement

Government and provincialized schools must enroll a minimum of three students for the NMMS 2025 exam. This requirement applies to students whose annual parental income is up to Rs 3.5 lakh .
