DHARWAD, Karnataka – The Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) recently conferred an honorary Doctor of Laws degree upon Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer . The university presented the degree during its seventh convocation ceremony held Wednesday at the Farmers’ Knowledge Centre, University of Agricultural Sciences, in Dharwad. Karnataka Governor and KSLU Chancellor Thaawarchand Gehlot formally presented the academic honor to Governor Nazeer.

About Governor S. Abdul Nazeer
Justice S. Abdul Nazeer began his judicial career as an advocate in 1983 . He practiced in the Karnataka High Court for 20 years. In 2003 , he was appointed an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court. He became a Permanent Judge in 2004 . Justice Nazeer served as a judge of the Supreme Court of India from 2017 until his retirement in 2023 .
His tenure included participation in several landmark judgments. He was part of the benches that delivered verdicts on the Ayodhya land dispute, the triple talaq issue, and demonetisation. Following his retirement from the Supreme Court, President Droupadi Murmu appointed him Governor of Andhra Pradesh in February 2023 . This honorary doctorate recognizes his extensive contributions to the Indian legal system and public service.
