Next Steps After Result Declaration

Candidates who qualify in the AFCAT 2026 written exam will proceed to the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) stage. This involves a multi-stage selection process.

Seat Selection

Following the result release, the IAF will open a seat selection window on its official portal. Qualified candidates must log in to choose their preferred AFSB centre and a specific date for their interview.

AFSB Call Letter and Document Preparation

After selecting a slot, candidates can download their AFSB Call Letter. This document outlines reporting instructions, required documents, and the testing schedule. Candidates should gather necessary documents, including mark sheets from 10th and 12th grades, graduation certificates, and an NCC certificate if applicable. Approximately 20 recent passport-sized photographs are also required.

AFSB Interview and Medicals

The AFSB interview process typically lasts over five days. It includes screening, psychological tests, group tasks, and a conference. Successful candidates then undergo a medical examination. This medical evaluation can take four to seven days and is conducted at the Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME) in New Delhi or the Institute of Aviation Medicine (IAM) in Bengaluru.

Final Selection and Training

Candidates who pass the written exam, AFSB interview, and medical tests will receive a joining letter. They will then report to the Air Force Academy (AFA) in Dundigal, Hyderabad. Training is scheduled to commence in January 2027.
