Tamil Nadu’s medical selection committee has published a list of 570 in-service doctors awarded incentive marks for NEET PG 2025 admissions. These marks apply to postgraduate degree and diploma courses under the government quota. The committee released the list as part of the 2025 counseling process.
Incentive marks are calculated based on a doctor’s years and months of service in government postings. The maximum incentive allowed is 30%, in line with Medical Council of India (MCI) regulations. Approximately 30 to 35 candidates among the applicants received zero marks. This occurred due to incomplete service periods or unverified service records.
Incentive Mark Calculation Guidelines
The selection committee followed specific guidelines, consistent with a Supreme Court order, to award these incentive marks:
- Incentive marks are awarded for completed years of service as of March 31, 2025 .
- Within these completed years, marks are fractionalized based on the number of months worked in particular stations:
- Difficult Hill areas: 10%
- Difficult Plain areas: 9%
- Remote areas: 8%
- Rural areas: 5%
- Incentive marks are not awarded for fractional service month periods, meaning only full months are counted, and days are disregarded.
- A maximum of 30% of incentive marks will be awarded to any candidate.
Grievance Process for Incentive Marks
Candidates could verify their awarded service incentive marks. Discrepancies had to be flagged through a dedicated grievance portal, pggrievances.tnmedicalonline.co.in. The deadline for submitting these grievances was 12 noon on October 27 .
Example of Incentive Mark Calculation
Consider a medical officer who has served in various government postings by March 31, 2025 . The incentive marks would be calculated based on the completed years and months in each specific posting type:
| Posting Type | Annual Incentive % | Service Period | Calculated Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Difficult Hill | 10% | 5 Months | (5/12) x 10% = 4.17% |
| Difficult Plain | 1 Year, 5 Months | 9% | (1 x 9%) + (5/12 x 9%) = 12.75% |
| Rural | 5% | 7 Months | (7/12) x 5% = 2.92% |
This example demonstrates how full years contribute their full percentage, and completed months within a year contribute proportionally. Any days within a month are not factored into the calculation for incentive marks.
Ineligible Candidates
The committee also released separate lists detailing candidates declared ineligible under various quotas. These included government, management, NRI, and minority categories. Grievance portals for these ineligible candidates remained open until October 29 .
Initial Ineligibility Figures:
- Government quota: 332 candidates
- NRI category: 265 candidates
- Management quota: 221 candidates
- Christian minority: 35 candidates
- Telugu minority: 59 candidates
- Malayalam minority: 9 candidates
Final Ineligibility After Review:
Following a review of submitted grievances, the numbers of ineligible candidates were updated:
- Government quota: 5 candidates remain ineligible.
- Christian minority (including 20% CMC quota): 24 candidates remain ineligible out of the original 35.
