About This Scholarship
The PM YASASVI Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme is a significant initiative by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. It aims to provide essential financial support to students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and De-Notified Tribes (DNT) who are currently studying in Classes 9 and 10.
This scheme, specifically for the state of Punjab for the academic year 2025-26, seeks to motivate eligible students and ensure they can complete their pre-matriculation or secondary education without undue financial burden.
Selected students under this scheme will receive a consolidated annual academic allowance of ₹4,000. The deadline for applications is 15 October 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the PM YASASVI Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme, an applicant must meet the following criteria:
• Be an Indian citizen.
• Be a domicile of Punjab.
• Belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), or De-Notified Tribes (DNT) category.
• Be studying in Class 9 or 10 in a government-recognised school.
• Have an annual parental/guardian income of less than ₹2,50,000 from all sources.
• Not be receiving benefits under any other scholarship scheme for studies in Class 9 or 10.
Important Note:
If students are already receiving benefits under another scholarship for Classes 9 or 10, they must choose one scholarship. It is mandatory for them to inform both the awarding authority of the other scholarship and their school principal about their decision to opt for this particular scheme.
Required Documents
Applicants are required to submit the following documents to successfully complete their scholarship application:
• Passport-sized photograph
• Aadhaar card
• Domicile certificate
• Marksheets/certificates of the previous qualifying examination
• Caste certificate issued by a government officer, not below the rank of Tehsildar (if applicable)
• Income certificate of parent(s)/guardian(s) issued by an officer, not below the rank of Tehsildar
• First page of the student's bank account passbook
How to Apply
Eligible applicants can apply for the PM YASASVI Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme by following these detailed steps:
1. Visit the official scholarship portal.
2. Click on the 'Register' button and proceed to fill in the necessary registration details. If you are already registered, log in using your Gmail, mobile number, or email ID.
3. Navigate to the 'Students' option located on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
4. Click on the 'Login' button under the OTR (One-Time Registration) option. This step is essential as OTR is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
5. Click on 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard.
6. Carefully read the provided details, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
7. Enter a functional mobile number, the captcha code, and the OTP (One-Time Password). Submit these details to complete the initial registration process.
8. Fill in all the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to finalize the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process.
Note: This is a temporary registration number. Students will need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to fully complete the OTR process.
9. After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
10. Select the specific scholarship, fill in all the mandatory details, upload the necessary documents, and finally submit your application.
Important Considerations:
All applicants are strongly advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once an application is submitted, no changes can be made. Furthermore, submitting multiple applications will lead to disqualification from the scholarship scheme.
