About This Scholarship
The Vyasakabi Fakirmohan Bhasabruti Scholarship, Odisha 2025-26 is a significant initiative by the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha. It aims to support and encourage meritorious students pursuing higher education at both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels, with a specific focus on the Odia language.
This scholarship is designed for students domiciled in Odisha who are passionate about the Odia language and wish to pursue it as an honours subject at the UG level or in an M.A. course at the PG level. The primary goal is to foster academic excellence in Odia studies across the state.
Selected candidates will receive a substantial one-time financial grant to aid their educational pursuits:
• UG students will be awarded ₹20,000.
• PG students will receive ₹30,000.
The selection of candidates will be based on a merit list, determined by their academic performance in their last qualifying examinations. The application deadline for this scholarship is 25th February 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria:
• Be a domicile in Odisha.
• Belong to the General, Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC), or Economically Backward Class (EBC) category.
For Undergraduates:
• Be enrolled in a UG (Arts) degree with Odia as an honours subject in a recognized degree college/autonomous college or university within Odisha or other states.
• Have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in the Class 12 examination, conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha.
For Postgraduates:
• Have taken admission in the M.A. course (Odia) in a state university/degree college or autonomous college of the state or other states.
• Have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate at the undergraduate level, as conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha.
Important Note: Students pursuing higher education through distance learning or correspondence courses are ineligible for this scholarship.
Required Documents
Applicants are required to provide the following documents as part of their application:
• Domicile certificate issued by a competent authority such as Tahasildar or Additional Tahasildar.
• Academic transcripts/marksheets of the last qualifying examinations.
• Aadhaar-linked bank account details of the applicant.
• College/institute ID card. If unavailable, a Letter of Undertaking authenticated by the concerned educational institution may be submitted. This letter must specify the academic session, course, name, duration, and the student's roll or registration number.
• Additional documents confirming enrolment in a three-year undergraduate degree in Arts with Odia (Honours) for UG applicants, or admission to an M.A. course in Odia for PG applicants.
