IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications can be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Process Overview

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) , Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) , University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) , or DST INSPIRE .

International examinations like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores are also considered. English proficiency tests such as TOEFL , IELTS , TOEIC , OPI , OPIC , or Cambridge English Examination results are mandatory.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will grant admission based on candidate performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The interview committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
