IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs . The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.

Application Details

Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referee Requirements

According to IIT Delhi, referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language ability. These assessments are a key part of the application review.

Eligibility and Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. Candidates with exceptional academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. Admission will be based on performance in this interview.
