IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are accepted through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Process for International Students

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. Accepted scores include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency tests are mandatory. Acceptable scores are from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
