IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Admission Process Details

IIT Delhi will consider scores from national and international standardized tests. These may include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) for PhD and PG programs.

International applicants may also submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Proficiency in English will be further assessed through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Final admission decisions will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
