IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students for the academic year 2026-27. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency and provide contact details for two referees.
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This assessment will be part of the official notification process.
Eligibility and Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Proficiency in English is mandatory. Applicants must provide scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Alternatives may be accepted.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
