IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.

Admission Process

Prospective students must apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The application window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Applicants are required to submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two academic referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility Criteria

In addition to referee recommendations and English proficiency proof, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Procedure

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to participate in an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
