IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested students must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude. Comments will cover their proficiency in the chosen field, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from specific entrance examinations for PhD and PG program eligibility. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also considered. These include:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Admission Process

Admission to IIT Delhi programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview.

The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. Students may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests.
