The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

The application window will close on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM. Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who can submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
While not always mandatory, IIT Delhi may require scores from national eligibility tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. Proficiency in English will be further assessed through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
