The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. Accepted tests include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants can also submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proof of English language proficiency is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on an interview process. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
