IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the 2026-27 academic year.
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Interested students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.
English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Applicants must submit scores from at least one of these tests.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
