The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must visit the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in to apply. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also accepted. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English proficiency must be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will receive invitations for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The final admission decision rests on the candidate’s performance throughout the selection process.
