IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applicants can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Details
The application window is open for foreign nationals seeking admission for the academic year 2026-27. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. The application portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from specific standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Acceptable tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. A strong academic record is also a key factor for admission.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic backgrounds will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. The committee will assess their suitability for the program.
