IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application period is open for international students aiming to enroll for the 2026-27 academic year . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.

The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. International candidates, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from national and international standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

In addition, candidates may need to submit scores from English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will make admission decisions based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee evaluates candidates for their suitability for advanced study and research.
