IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.
Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.
In addition to academic qualifications, candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The interview assesses the candidate’s overall suitability for the program.
