IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are accepted through the official websiteinternational.iitd.ac.infor the academic year 2026-27.

The application portal for foreign national candidates closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Both non-Indian nationals and individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards are eligible to apply.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program. International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

Final selection for admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The committee will evaluate candidates for their suitability for advanced study and research.
