IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.

Admission Details

Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. The portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses.

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility and Testing Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores may also be accepted. These include:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include:

  • TOEFL
  • IELTS
  • TOEIC
  • OPI
  • OPIC
  • Cambridge English Examination
  • Other recognized language tests

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The selection committee will assess candidates based on their interview and submitted application materials.
